Airtel Sucks

Today this is my second post … wanted to post this article long back..anyway here it is

Few weeks back Airtel , India`s largest Internet Service Provider ( ISP ) silently changed few things in their site and thought that it will go unnoticed.. But they are DAMN wrong !!

So what happened ?

India`a IT is booming at a very rapid speed and to feed it with junk food called Internet has been a problem off lately ..

With more than thousands of people getting to know or joining the netizen community each and every day .. the ISP`s are facing a situation,in which they are now forced to UPGRADE THEIR hardware’s and other equipment to meet the growing demands.So now comes the problem .. with  the world economic slow down and increasing hardware rates , these ISP`s are forced to either block new connection , which they cant , or charge more from the Business Plan users ( the big companies which get a massive 8 MBps , etc ) which again they cant do .. or they they should downgrade the present Slow users ( the HOME USERS ) , which they have started to do.. , thinking that most of the Home Users wont question a thing and mostly are Job holders , busy people and users who use internet rarely.. But they are again wrong … Present day users are more sophisticated and they know what they are doing and they don’t want any deficit in their world of internet…

As you can see from the picture … the unlimited usage is being severely capped and we are put in a position to use less …

My question to them

>>> When we pay for unlimited , we really pay for it …. hard earned money so that we can enjoy the internet without any hassle and enjoy as we like

>>> When did TRAI give you permission to cap the download ??

>>> If you cant even provide a minimum 50 % of bandwidth , then the why the hell are you still a ISP ??

Hi all …

Always use Protection

When we had no internet in my place … ie pre-dawn period of even the Dial-up, we ( me and bro ) were happy with the things going on , i mean the system , no virus stuff ..etc etc… and we didn’t install any of those Anti-Virus or Firewall or anything…
But when we got hold of the nimble Dial-Up , Everything changed..

Today we live in a world were even the slightest mistake on any of the chains ( Antivirus , Settings , Firewall , Browser , Phising site ) could potentially compromise everything … right from the Identity theft to Whole system compromise..

Today is a world were internet is considered to be second Earth or Second Life .. and living there is somewhat different and any wrong move can have devastating effect .. and potentially loose all your second life.

So how do we protect ourselves ??
How do we know we have made mistake ?
How do we know our identity is not been misused ?

Here are the Few basic things you should be having or doing before you even open up the internet..

>>> 1. ) Firewall is a must !! If you are working on a XP machine .. I would greatly suggest you get ZoneAlarm Security suite which comes with Antivirus along with it … its the best XP can get and if you want to add… always have ” Spybot Search & Destroy “. Just in case you you wan to know other alternatives .. just visit www.Filehippo.com , a good site where you can see what are the other software to try and a good site to know whether the current software has  the latest update.

>>> 2.) So with first line of defense setup its up to us to take some of the basic steps to protect ourselves , for reference you can see this article “!0 10 Things You Should Have Stopped Way Before !!!

>>> 3.) Have a good Browser… Yes , When we first used internet there wasnt much choice to make , there were only two most prominent browsers , they were Internet Explorer and the infamous Netscape Navigator.. with the latter now absolute , Internet Explorer has come a long way today .. but there is a catch to it .. since its the browser which comes along with the Operating System , the users of IE is tremendous, So this males the hacking community to go after the most popular ones… Even though today’s IE is very stable and secure , still its the most hunted browser by the Black hat community !!! So now comes the question… Which browser to use ?? If you ask me there are two options … one is the open source ” Firefox ” and another is the Popular ” Opera ” . Each has its own ups and down.. for me opera is a browser which is secure and FAST !! if you are on a GPRS / DIALUP / or anything less that broadband , i would suggest you to go for Opera , Its cache function is the fastest of all browser and many of the features introduced by opera are spectacular and trend setting.. Even i have heard many saying that Firefox has constantly copied some of the features of Opera… So where does Firefox comes ?? — ADD-ONS !! Period.. Yes the Firefox is a browser where add-ons is the thing to go … the collection and functionality of the ADD-Ons are exotic and mind boggling … Firefox is for multi taskers , guys who know what they are doing kind , … Is it secure ?? yes its damn Secure !!!!!..

>>>> 4.) Update Everything .. when was the last time you have thought of updating your OS ?? anti-virus , Firewall … ???

Update

Why do you think they ( the software companies , community ) release updates ??? because there is a hole in the software which needs to be fixed!! So if you haven’t updated for a while , please update it … !!  this will secure your system nearly 95 %. But also keep in mind , when you are doing update after a long time , say more than 6 months , be careful to read the instruction , since sometimes there are chances things to go wrong ..so my best advice is do it one at a time… If you planning to update a anti virus .. do it .. and if its ask for a restart , do it .. and then go for the next one … this would solve most of  the problems . Always have a backup of your documents , files on a rewritable DVD !!!

>>> 5.) With all the above things done .. for the last time , check that your network connection or the personal folders are not shared.. coz even with all the above said , a simple mistake like this can compromise all the personal data s… And also keep a eye over the firewall setting , anti virus setting , coz some times we might have turned them off and would have forgot to revert it back…

Well I think i have covered nearly everything before one must thing of accessing the internet or one must have fulfilled to stay alive in the second world !!!

the main difference in the different version are in

SACD : not many will be knowing this .. anyway 40 gb doesn’t support…

Here is why 40 GB is fine for many…Indians : ( this is my personal view)

1.) USB port doesn’t matter as u can add USB hub and connect your peripherals in them..
2.) Hard Disk doesn’t matter since its totally legal to swap your 40 gb with 120 GB or more …( laptop hard disk with 5400 rpm ) and more over i still haven’t used much of the hard disk..
3.)Flash Card Reader : well as i said .. connect a card reader through usb .. ( the local one which cost around 500-700 ) and well u have a card reader..
4.)SACD : what is it ??? so doesn’t matter to most
5.)Money : Ya you save around

5k = 2 PS3 games
but if u want the best of the ps3 and want the ultimate.. then my advice is just wait for few more months as there has been plans to release a newer version of PS3 with better hardware and probably with GTR 5 prologue

so enough said….about hardware.. what about software??
well the latest firmware is 2.10 has the following features..

the Actual software is called the XMB (Xross Media Bar)

this is how it looks with icons placed vertical and horizontal and navigation through them is fun and easy..
and this i some what i found on the net.. regarding XMB..

this is really nice .. but there are also themes , very cool looking themes to fit…

DESIGN :

Well it cant get any better…
the black silky, shiny outer surface with curved outer part.. puts this console on shelves as a showpiece.. a costly jewel…
and the silver lining is absolutely awesome…

SIXASIS:

The best Joystick ever…
with well placed buttons and absolutely weight less and it does perfectly fits in your hand.. and great for playing for hours..
but as for me .. my hands get sweaty… and the SIXASIS tends to loose friction or grip.. but a soft cloth clean will put the controller back under my grip…
for starters like me .. the wireless feature took me my surprise.. because it made gaming more easy and comfortable.. now i can sit / lie down/ and play the game… without worrying about the wires..that’s a great plus for hardcore gamers… Sony claims that you can add up to 7 ( ya , did u get the no correct .. its S-E-V-E-N) SIXASIS .. through Bluetooth and claims to have a range of 20 meter… but in normal case.. it will provide a good coverage for a single room..without any obstruction with walls .. between ps3 and sixasis…

PS3 controller has got a rechargeable battery and the battery life once charged comes for nearly 4-5 hours of play.. i.e. by using SIXASIS through Bluetooth…
i think this number is great since u don’t have to be connected to ps3 all time.. and the wire provided is also stable and thick..and at this point i just want to tell a small incident which happened to me//
i had my ps3 in vertical position and very edge of my table.. and when i started playing ( with sixasis connected to ps3 thru wire) i subconsciously pulled the sixasis away from ps3 and to my surprise the sixasis came separate or say the wire with usb connection slided out smooth, which would have probably been a disaster with the wire pulling own my whole ps3 to the ground..NICE ENGINEERING THERE… SONY !!! HATS OFF !!!

ok lets come to the accelerometer feature…( which i had it in k850 too )
this version of accelerometer is far more better than what i have in k850…
the sensitivity is top notch, and accurate, precise.. simply awesome…

but one downside is there is no option ( or i didn’t find ) to control how much the accelometer should ne sensitive or something like that… little downside .. but not that much a BIG problem..

Here is a small tip:
If u insert the thumb drive and your Ps3 doesn’t show any files..don’t panic.. just press the triangle and select ” SHOW ALL ” .. to show all the files regardless of folder name..
this has been a common fact that SE phones read respective files in respective folder ( except k850) such as jpeg in “PICTURE” folder and MP3 in “MUSIC” folder .. etc.. and that’s how PS3 works too … so this tip will help u when your files are out of order with the required folder name..

So well said about the formats.. here why PS3 is incredible to replace us HOME THEATRE :

1.) it supports up to 1080p ( simply awesome) , that’s really awesome considering present day costly DVD players.. and also needless to say BLURAY PLAYERS

2.)extensive control over the media files… ( copy to internal ps3 hard disk if u want.. delete them, move them .. change video screen size , audio options, etc etc..)

3.) optical output .. and also HDMI output and support for 5.1

4.)and support for BLURAY ( the future format …)

5.) and also support to profile 2.0 ( bluray) which makes VERY VERY FUTURE PROOF…

6.)Superior quality and output of A/V makes this one the BEST REPLACEMENT of all those players ( DVD/Bluray) out there ..
remember: today’s BD player are still not 2.0 profile supportive.. meaning .. it cant be even upgraded through a update like in ps3.. since profile 2.0 requires a local HD of 20 GB and network compatible.. which leaves many players in dark..

so as far as video playback is concerned.. let me tell u i have never experienced like this simply coz .. it was a tremendous move from DVD player to something high definition like ps3… for me .. PS3 playback is top notch..
u simply cant expect anything better…
it gives u option like
1.)screen size : normal , actual size , zoom
2.)audio volume control + boost
3.)some other option like : dynamic control, reduction of noise level , pixel level reduction … etc.. (forgot other names…)
4.)selection of audio channels
5.)display of details like bit rate, channels, time lapsed , format , subtitle option etc..
6.)time search is also there with chapter search too..
its just a few features away from PC version of movie viewing…
on the whole .. it simply is superb..!!! enough to replace all the players out there…

Gaming :

Needless to say we all know what a cell proccy is capable of ..
and given a MONSTER proccy .. the games are simply fluid smooth… no glitch whats so ever…

but there is a small disappointment.. ie the memory… as i have mentioned before.. it supports 256MB GDDR3 , which many consider to be not enough .. but many developers say that since 1080p is he max video out and max video input supported by most LCD out there … they feel this wont be a problem.. and say that it would be more than enough… !!! ( this is actually from Crysis Developers )

with the best the controller .. and best hardware .. all u get is BEST GAMING CONSOLE… !!! end of topic…

p.s i have got burnout paradise (720p support) .. and so far i haven’t had any issue and graphics are simply spectacular ( when i was playing games in PC with 800×600 or to max of 1024×768 ) and also since there isn’t many games with me … i cant explain more about the performance.. but as for now .. its cheese smooth or oil smooth .. or baby smooth .. whatever smooth u want

Updates / Firmware :

Sony has been regularly updating the PS3 Firmware and they are quite Good at it.When I bought PS3 it was just a nibble gaming console with little options and features.. now it plays nearly all Video format and relatively STABLE

so this far … i think i have covered most stuff.. if not please do comment here..

Slumdog millionaire….

Dollar not Rupee

A different film with loads of information and truth in it…A film I very much liked .. but felt at one point of the time that it keeps repeating again n again… anyway a great film to watch..and a must watch film.

Yes its a film based on Indian Kid and poverty but whats that has do it with our film industry .. Only thing we have from our film industry is A.R.Rahman.. but wait , is it the first English movie he is working on ??? NO !!!

Then why is the whole India Celebrating this Oscar ( I meant to say the awards for director , film editing , Cinematography etc..)
The only true victory or say should be proud of is A.R.Rahman … and not the other things… For Your information , Slumdog Millionaire is a DAMN British produced movie and actors are Brit- Origin… now these things said .. Should we really enjoy the victory of SlumDog millionaire ?? and what have we come to ?? Depending on foreign director to uphold Indian Film industry ..!! and virtually saying that there is no good directors in India… Its a Shame!!

O.k Here is another piece of information or say a truth , There are over hundreds of films being released each and every year from the film industry …and this includes the more prominent , Bollywood , Kollywood , Tollywood… and all other wooods….
Why cant we get ONE film into Oscar ??? Isn’t that be the question of the hour ? Or say where is our film industry going towards ?
Except for HYPES ( nowadays even Dog food comes with Hype !! ) , there is not much to dwell into todays film.. Except handful of movies others are mostly commercial oriented.. anyway lets come back to SlumDog Millionaire

Yes , I do agree , its a film which involves Indian actors , Mumbai , Taj Mahal etc etc… but wait is this the only film to show all these or involve these ?? did any one know about a film called The Darjeeling Limited ? Even that too had ” India ” in it ?? and what about the film ” Mighty Heart ” which was entirely shot in India and also involved Indian Actors .!

All I am saying is lets us celebrate the things which REALLY belong to us ..
A.R.Rahman …?? Yes off course .. He should be celebrated as a HERO.But many critics from India have commented that even though A.R.Rahman has won the awards , are the Songs , OST really deserve it ?? I mean to say his works here in India is far more awesome than what was in Slumdog… and needless to say there is a part in the LIQUID DANCE song where he has taken a Tune from ” Gentle Man ” – Chiku Bukku Chiku Bukku Railae ..

Anyway we can take his award as a mush delayed Tribute to the MUSICAL KING OF INDIA!!

So why did we go Gaga over the film ???

All I want to say to all is since because some fool over the TV is saying some Sh!t .. Don`t take it just like that .. Analyze for a moment .. All these news channel want is SENSATION to feed in and we people are really Hungry for it !!

10 Things You Should Have Stopped Way Before !!!

There are certain things which I felt that everyone who is online should STOP doing these 10 things .. The following is the list on what not to do or should never do at all when you are online…

1. When on Orkut , DON`T EVER THINK its the most safe site in the whole God damn World… For your kind information its still in beta and Google is working hard to remove all those bugs…

2. So while on Orkut , don’t think that a funny looking image or a actress/ actor wallpaper comes in your scrap , its a genuine one… and don’t follow the link , i mean DON’T CLICK the bloody link … Why ? Coz most of these ” theme change ” scrap , nice looking cute graphics .. have hidden ” JAVASCRIPT ” or ” Link ” which has potential harmful code , which go from sending scrap to all your friends  to acquiring access to your account and possibly hack your account forever…

3. Again when there is some link which says you can scrap whole of the friends list with ” Happy New Year ” , ” Happy Diwali ” , or ” Happy Valentines Day ” .. Don`t fall for it.. coz as stated above , due to harmful link and code…

4. If you are on a Public system , i mean in a Internet Cafe , Stop accessing your personal sites like Yahoo mail , Gmail , Orkut , Picasa , Msn , Sify , Rediff etc.. coz who knows what they have installed on those system… because most of the identity theft takes place in these common place because of ignorance of the newbie’s…

5. Always LOGOUT and STOP leaving the system as such anywhere , anytime !!!!

6. If are going to follow a link ( i mean clicking the link ) .. and if you think its going to go for your personal account or you await to get logging into your account , just take a second and see the address bar and see if the link is either known or looks fishy ?? how to say ?? well i will give you all a situation. lets take a situation where you are in Orkut and your friend has sent you a link where it says you have got a mail in your yahoo inbox… so the current address ( website name in the address bar in your browser ) looks like                http://www.orkut.com/##############/############/####### and the link you have just clicked has address like http://red.te5juik.cjb/login.asp or whatever it may be .. but look close you don’t see ” http://yahoo.com or http://yahoomail.com anything that sort…. You got my point huh ??? Goooooodddd… !! If not feel free to ask in the comment system below.

7. Next in my list is in your inbox .! Ya that is where everyone is fooled.. very easily..even the most experienced netizen. So how to deal with it. You just need to know one thing ..- that is which , no IDIOT in the world is going to give YOU a million dollar or no IDIOTIC gal/boy is going to send a DATE email to YOU!!!( this off course excludes the friend in your friend list … hi hi….). So once you have understood this VERY basic stuff… all will go fine while accessing your inbox. Another thing you have to remember is DON`T go on seeing , clicking all the emails that arrives in your inbox .. and don’t think you are the special one to get a email like that… because those are called spam and they target people like you. BEWARE !!! Click email which are from your friend ( even that too has become difficult with intelligent hackers working around all known routes to get you trapped ) or you are awaiting a email from a site or company..

8. One thing most of us do is giving way email ID wherever we see a space with ” Your Email ID ” … DON’T do it… !! Simple!! Don’t Do it..Unless you are need of a registration .. don’t give email anywhere…anytime.. unless need comes . DON’T have one email for everything..have two ! one for your own personal use and others to dispose at sites where you are pushed to register…

9. DON`T have one password for everything… have at least 3-4 different password…because if one password is compromised , all  the other site like yahoo , gmail , orkut , facebook , msn , hotmail are also compromised..

10. Final One…. and the most important one… !!! DON`T be a BIG IDIOT by posting all your information right from email ID to phone number to Dogs name… You just have made the work of a hacker very  easy….Unless you are in search of a job .. don’t post your personal information online and even if the site asks you to give your details don’t waste your time by posting all the information online. And don’t think just by posting your phone no , the other sex will call you… they wont .. You are simply inviting trouble with a big red carpet!!

So all said and heard …. hope after reading this article You stop Doing things you were doing or planning to do..
